Artist Statement

Born in Dakar, Senegal, and raised in the United States, my journey as an artist is shaped by a blend of diverse cultural experiences. As a fine artist working primarily with oil paints, I create realistic portraits and scenes while continually experimenting with various styles to capture the essence of my subjects.

My art delves into the exploration of beauty, human nature, and psychology. I am deeply inspired by the world around me, especially moments when individuals and animals are in their true elements. Whether depicting a musician lost in the rhythm on stage, an athlete immersed in their sport, or an animal in its natural habitat, I aim to convey the raw, unfiltered emotions and stories of these moments. My intention is to immerse viewers into the worlds I paint, allowing them to connect deeply with the subjects and their experiences.

Jazz music, with its improvisational spirit and expressive depth, profoundly influences my creative process. The spontaneity and fluidity of jazz are reflected in my approach to painting, encouraging me to explore new ideas and perspectives. Through my art, I seek to unravel the complexities of the human experience, highlighting the intricate interplay of emotions and the inherent beauty within.

As I continue my artistic journey, I am committed to pushing the boundaries of my creativity and delving deeper into the psychological and emotional dimensions of my subjects. My ultimate goal is to create artworks that not only depict the external beauty of the world but also reveal the profound inner experiences that define our shared humanity.
